Comment Reply via Email

,

Comment reply via email allows you to send in comment responses to new comments on your blog directly from your email client. No need for an extra trip from your email client to your WordPress blog just to reply to a comment.

Settings

On the Settings -> Discussion screen you’ll find the Enable sending comment replies via email option. You’ll also need to turn on the E-mail me whenever and Anyone posts a comment options, since this is what sends out the comment notification emails that you’ll be replying to.

Quoting

Most email clients will quote the email that you are replying to, with your reply above the quoted section. WordPress.com scans the body of the email looking for this quoted section and strips it out (along with anything below the quoted reply). If your email client does not include a quoted section when replying to an email you’ll need to add the following line to the end of your reply:

!END

When WordPress.com sees !END (on a line all by itself) it will use it as a marker, ignoring everything below that line and using everything above it as the comment reply. This way you can use the !END feature even if you have quoting turned on in your email client.
