Posts » Tag Management
Tags are a way of assigning words or short phrases to a post to make it easier to classify what the post is about. Each post can have any number of tags assigned to it, and tags infer no hierarchy.
Note that WordPress also provides categories – you may wish to use these in addition to tags. Each post must belong to at least one category, but does not need to have any tags.
Tags are added to posts using the tags module, or from the edit posts screen.
You can add new tags and manage existing ones from the Post tags dashboard page. Click on the Posts > Posts Tags menu.

You will be presented with a list of your existing tags, a tag cloud showing your most popular tags, and a method of adding new tags.

Tag cloud
A tag cloud is a way of showing which are your most popular tags. The more a tag is used in your posts, the larger the word for that tag will appear. When shown together the tags give the appearance of a cloud, with the largest words representing the most popular tags.
Clicking on any tag will allow you to edit that tag.
Adding a tag
You can add a new category by filling out the fields:

Tag name – As expected, the name of your tag
Description – Describe what the tag is for. This may be displayed in certain themes as, for example, a tooltip.
Click Add tag to add the new details to the list.
Managing existing tags
The list of tags will show you the name and number of posts belonging to each tag. If you move your mouse over a tag a set of options will appear allowing you to edit, quickedit, or delete that tag:

If you click on quickedit the tag will change into an edit box and you can rename the tag quickly:

If you click on edit you will taken to a separate page where you can edit the name and description. This functions exactly the same as in adding a tag.
Clicking on delete will delete that tag.
Bulk actions
If you have a lot of tags that you want to delete then you can use the bulk actions feature. Select each tag you want to delete using the checkbox to the left of the tag name.

If you want to select all tags click the checkbox at the top:

From the bulk actions menu select delete and then click on apply. The tags will be deleted.
