Monotone is a nifty photo blogging theme developed by Automattic’s own Noel Jackson. It dynamically changes its background color based on the colors in the images which are posted. You can activate the theme on your WordPress.com blog from Appearance -> Themes.

Here are some quick answers to many common, frequent questions regarding the theme:
Does the theme support widgets?
No.
What is the layout width for posts?
The layout width is dynamic and depends on the image used in a post. The maximum layout width is 804 pixels (for horizontal images) and 560 pixels (for vertical images). Anything bigger will be shrunk and anything smaller will stay the same size. Monotone will determine the width based on the post’s image and will display the correct image size to fit in the layout.
Why do I get a 404 error page when I click the “ABOUT” link at the top of my blog?
This means you do not have a page with a permalink of “about” published yet on your blog or you deleted the default “about” page. You can create a new page from Pages -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard and set the permalink to “about”.
Can I add links to other pages?
You can, but you’ll need to manually insert the links into your posts or in the about page. Monotone does not have a sidebar or area to display widgets. This is strictly a theme for photo blogging.
Will the theme work with more than one image in a post?
The theme will only use the first image in any given post.
Why aren’t my images working?
In order for Monotone to work with your images, they need to be uploaded to your blog and then inserted into the posts from your Media Library. If you are attempting to insert images into your posts and the images are stored on another web site, it will not work.
The blog also needs to be set to the first or second option at Settings ->Privacy. The theme will not be able to pick colors out of the image if your blog is set to private.
