Browser Issues »Disabling Browser Pop-Up Blockers
WordPress.com occasionally uses pop-up windows to display new pages, but sometimes these pop-ups are blocked by the browser you’re using. The sections below will show you how to unblock these pop-ups in major browsers.
Google Chrome
- Click the menu icon on the toolbar. It looks like this:
- Click Settings.
- At the bottom, click Show Advanced Settings.
- In the Privacy section, click Content Settings.
- Scroll down in the window to the Pop-ups section.
- If “Allow all sites to show pop-ups” is checked, you can stop here. Pop-ups should already be working for you.
- If “Do not allow any site to show pop-ups” is checked, click Manage Exceptions below that.
- In the Hostname Pattern box, enter this:
[*.]wordpress.com
- In the Behavior dropdown, select Allow. It should look like this:
- In the lower-right corner, click Done.
Mozilla Firefox
- Click the menu icon on the toolbar. It looks like this:
- Click the gear-shaped Preferences button.
- Click the Content tab.
- If “Block pop-up windows” is not checked, you can stop here. Pop-ups should already be working for you.
- If “Block pop-up windows” is checked, click the Exceptions button.
- In the Address of Website box, enter this:
wordpress.com
- Click the Allow button.
- Close the preferences windows. Pop-ups from WordPress.com should now work properly.
Internet Explorer
- Click the gear icon on the toolbar. It looks like this:
- Select Internet Options from the menu.
- Click on the Privacy tab.
- In the Pop-up Blocker section, click the Settings button.
- In the Address of website to allow box, enter this:
wordpress.com
- Click the Add button.
- Close the Pop-up Blocker Settings window.
- In the Internet Options window, click OK.
Safari
- From the menu bar, select Safari > Preferences.
- Click the Security tab.
- Uncheck the “Black pop-ups windows” box, like so:
