Disconnect Jetpack Sites

This guide will help you break the link between Jetpack and your website, using either the WordPress.com interface or your site’s WP Admin. If you decide you no longer want to use Jetpack on your site, please follow these instructions.

Unlink a site from Jetpack using WordPress.com

You can disconnect a site from Jetpack, even if the website does not exist anymore, by following these steps:

  1. Log into WordPress.com
  2. Go to My Sites.
  3. In the site picker, click on the site you’d like to disconnect.
  4. In the sidebar on the left, navigate to the Settings → General menu:

  1. At the bottom of the new page, find the Manage your connection link.
  1. On the Manage Connection page, choose Disconnect from WordPress.com.
  1. Follow the prompts, and when ready, confirm the disconnection by clicking the Disconnect button.

The site is now removed from your WordPress.com account and will no longer appear under your My Sites page.

Unlink a Jetpack site using WP Admin

If your site still exists and you have access to WP Admin, you can disconnect from Jetpack via your WP Admin dashboard:

  1. Go to the Jetpack Dashboard in your site’s WP Admin, and scroll down until you find the Connections area.
  2. Click the Manage site connection link:

  1. Follow the prompts, and when ready, confirm the disconnection by clicking the Disconnect button.

The site is now removed from your WordPress.com account and will no longer appear under your My Sites page.

Deactivate Jetpack when you are unable to log in to your site

If your site won’t load due to a fatal error which mentions Jetpack and you’re unable to log in, chances are that another plugin or theme function is conflicting with our plugin.

To get your site loading again:

  1. Connect to your server via FTP access or your web host’s file manager.
  2. From there, delete the /jetpack/ folder from inside your /public_html/wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  3. If you’re unsure how to use FTP access or a file manager, please contact your host – They can explain the process better or perhaps even remove the Jetpack folder.
  4. Once you’re able to log back into your site again, the next best step is to make sure that all of your plugins, theme, PHP version and core of WordPress are all updated before trying to install and activate Jetpack again (your host can also help with all of that).

Your site should load normally, as long as no other issues occur. Deleting the /jetpack/ folder via FTP will not disconnect your site from WordPress.com. If you reinstall Jetpack, your site will automatically show as connected.
