Incompatible Plugins

The Business Plan gives you access to tens of thousands of plugins in the WordPress ecosystem. Plugins give your site superpowers, helping you turn your dreams into reality.

While the vast majority of plugins are supported here at WordPress.com, there are some that are not. This page contains a running list of these unsupported plugins and accompanying reasons why they aren’t supported.

By no means are we implying that all plugins on this page are bad. By disallowing these plugins we wish to ensure a scalable and efficient hosting environment for all our users.

Caching Plugins

Our platform is already equipped with its own robust caching solution. Thus, installing another caching plugin will not work and may have unintended consequences, it may even crash your site. The following plugins are caching plugins that we have found to interfere with our existing caching system.

  • Comet Cache
  • Hyper Cache
  • Quick Cache
  • W3 Total Cache
  • WP Cache
  • WP Fastest Cache
  • WP Rocket
  • WP Super Cache

Backup Plugins

If you are worried about losing data, rest assured that we take daily backups of your site through our in-house solution, Jetpack Backups. With a press of a button, you may restore or download a backup of your site from a specific point in time. We do not allow any other backup plugins, as they are not required and may negatively impact your site’s performance with excessive resource usage.

  • Backup WD
  • BackUpWordPress
  • BackWPup
  • Duplicator
  • WP Clone by WP Academy
  • WP DB Backup

Email Plugins

Emails are an essential part of any website. However, there are some plugins that send spammy email blasts that we cannot allow. As a workaround, you may want to check out some third-party email solutions such as MailChimp or MailPoet.

  • E-mail Broadcasting
  • Mailit
  • Send Email from Admin

Automated Content Plugins

We know it can be tempting to automatically import content from around the web using content scrapers. We’ve found that these sorts of plugins are not a good fit for sites hosted here at WordPress.com and ask that you refrain from using them as not only do they place unnecessary loads on our infrastructure, automated posting is often seen as spam and is generally unwanted.
