PHP Version Switching

Sites on the Business and eCommerce plans using custom plugins and/or custom themes now have the option to switch PHP versions.

By default, all WordPress.com sites use PHP version 7.3. Business and eCommerce customers will be able to choose PHP 7.4.

(Older sites may be on PHP 7.2. However, PHP 7.2 is approaching the end of its supported lifecycle and we recommend switching to 7.3 or 7.4.)

How to switch

Visit the My Site > Manage > Hosting Configuration section of your WordPress.com dashboard.

Look for the PHP version box. It will tell you which version of PHP your site is currently using, and allow you to change that version.

Select the PHP version you wish to use, then click the “Update PHP Version” button to save your changes.
