Can I change the order of images in a slideshow after the images have been added?

You can change the order of images in a slideshow by dragging and dropping them into place, or by using the “Random Order” or “Reverse Order” options in the Gallery Settings area.

How do I adjust the size of a slideshow?

Slideshows are set to fill up the full content width of your theme. Resizing them is not currently possible but if you try different themes you will find that the size of slideshows varies.

Can I turn off captions on a slideshow?

Captions cannot currently be turned off on a slideshow. If you want a caption not to display, you’ll need to edit the image itself to remove it.

Can I add more than one slideshow to a page?

Yes, you can.

Can I still use the old [slideshow] shortcode?

The old [slideshow] shortcode will continue to work, but to access all the new features – such as ordering, excluding certain images, etc. – you would need to update your shortcode to use the new [gallery type=”slideshow”] format.

Note: In order for the old [slideshow] shortcode to work, you will need to have all media images attached to the post you are wanting to use the slideshow on. To attach images to a post or page, simply upload them directly to that post or page or attach them through the Media page. You can also see our document on attaching media.

What do the slideshows look like?

Good question. Here’s an example:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Can I remove the dark background?

Sites with the Custom Design feature, included with the Premium and Business plans, can remove or change the dark background through CSS. For example the adding the following CSS to the Appearance → Customize → CSS panel will give the slideshow a transparent background.

div.slideshow-window {
    background-color: inherit;
    border: none;

What happened to the old SlideShare slideshow options? Can I still use those?
