Embedding with a URL
To quickly embed a Vimeo video, simply copy the video’s URL from your web browser’s address bar while viewing the video:
And paste it on a line by itself in your post/page editor. We take care of the rest! You will be able to preview and play the video directly from the post/page Visual Editor.
Embedding with a Shortcode
If you’d like to specify a particular width and height for the video, you’ll want to create a shortcode.
To do so, copy the URL or video ID from your web browser’s address bar while viewing the video.
[vimeo https://vimeo.com/44633289] or [vimeo 44633289]
To change the width and height, for example to 500×280, you would use the following shortcode
[vimeo 44633289 w=500&h=280]
which produces a video that looks like this:
- Make sure the Vimeo link is not hyperlinked. If you can see the URL in your visual editor and it is shown in your theme’s link color (as the second line in the screenshot below), then it is hyperlinked. Simply select the whole URL and click the “Unlink” icon on your Visual Editor toolbar.
Once the URL is unlinked, you will be able to see a playable preview of the video.
- Make sure to place the Vimeo URL or shortcode on its own line. This means there should be no character or whitespace before or after the URL/shortcode.
- Make sure that your video link is using HTTPS (starts with https://, not http://).
- Make sure that the video has the appropriate privacy settings.
