Embedding with a URL
To quickly embed a Vine video, simply copy the video’s URL. If you share a video on Twitter or Facebook, its URL can be found at the end of your tweet or post.
Alternately, you can find the URL by clicking the three dots at the bottom of a Vine post, selecting “Share this post,” then “Embed,” and copying the URL shown minus the /embed.
Once you have copied the URL, paste it on a line by itself in your WordPress post/page editor:
We take care of the rest! The video will look something like this:
Embedding with a Shortcode
If you’d like to specify a particular width and height for the video, you’ll want to add a shortcode to a post or page using one of the following formats. Be sure to replace the URL/video ID listed here with the one for your own video.
To change the width and height, for example to 300×300 pixels, you would use the following shortcode:
[vine url="https://vine.co/v/hBFxTlV36Tg" width=300 height=300]
Vine videos are always square and the minimum Vine embed size is 300×300 pixels. If both a height and width are defined, the Vine video will be displayed using the smaller of the two values.
If you don’t add either a height or width, the video will take up the default width allowed by your theme.
You can also set the video to be either postcard or simple type, by adding a type parameter to the shortcode.
Here’s an example of the postcard type:
[vine url="https://vine.co/v/hBFxTlV36Tg" type="postcard"]
Here’s an example of the simple type, which is also the default format if you don’t specify a type:
[vine url="https://vine.co/v/hBFxTlV36Tg" type="simple"]
- Make sure the Vine link is not hyperlinked. If the URL is shown in your theme’s link color (as the second line in the screenshot below), then it is hyperlinked. Simply select the whole URL and click the “Unlink” icon on your Visual Editor toolbar.
Once the URL is unlinked, you will see the link text in black.
- Make sure to place the Vine URL or shortcode on its own line. This means there should be no character or whitespace before or after the URL/shortcode.
- Make sure that the video has the appropriate privacy settings.
