To quickly embed a Vimeo video, simply copy the video’s URL from your web browser’s address bar while viewing the video:

And paste it on a line by itself in your post/page editor:

We take care of the rest! The video will look something like this:

Embedding with a Shortcode

If you’d like to specify a particular width and height for the video, you’ll want to create a shortcode.

To do so, copy the URL or video ID from your web browser’s address bar while viewing the video.

Create the shortcode on a new post or page using one of the following formats. Be sure to replace the URL/video ID listed here with the URL or video ID of your video.

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/240975]

or

[vimeo 240975]

The default width and height of the embedded video is 400×300.

To change the width and height, for example to 500×400, you would use the following shortcode

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/240975 w=500&h=400]

which produces a video that looks like this:

Troubleshooting

With the first method (URL copy & paste), make sure the Vimeo link is not hyperlinked. If the URL is shown in blue, as the first line in the screenshot below, then it is hyperlinked. Simply select the whole URL and click the “Unlink” icon on your Visual Editor toolbar.

Unlink Vimeo URL

Once the URL is unlinked, you will see the text in black. You should then be able to see the embedded Vimeo video on your page or post.
